Hetalia Stamp by EpicCheeseSandwich Hetalia Stamp by EpicCheeseSandwich
I know I'm going to get hatred for this, and there's probably going to be a flame war in the comments, but I think it has to be said.

And if you like the stamp, feel free to use!

Maybe WW2 and stereotipes aren't the best way to promote peace. But I agree with you, when I watched Hetalia, I started watching a lot of WW2 documentals :3

It does teach you history! And it teaches you without knowing it!
I once asked my friends 'who were the allies during WW2?' and they didn't know. I never even expected to know but it's so easy to learn with Hetalia. So back of, BROTHER!!! Lemme enjoy my anime!

Thank you! The anti-hetalians always say that Hetalia doesn't teach history.
Ok then before I watched Hetalia I never knew:
-Where Prussia was
-Anything about the cold war
-Anything about the opium wars
-Anything about the Holy Roman Empire
-Didn't know much about Soviet Russia
-Didn't know any Nordic history
ect....

Now I could keep up in a conversation with my history geek friends on most war related topics.

Yes some part are inaccurate but it is a comedy with history elements so it is not all going to be about sad shit and death!

And rant over XD

(I stopped doing history in year 8 so I learnt jack shit in school)

You're very welcome!

Yeah, I didn't know what Prussia was either, and had minimal knowledge on the Opium Wars and the Holy Roman Empire too.

And exactly, comedy shouldn't be taken so seriously anyway! xD

Its a show where stereotypes run free. Why do people take it seriously? Or better yet, why do people think the writers are being serious? XD

Its like criticising Monty Python or Black Adder for "not being realistic" XD

I agree! It makes my life a little brighter to know that I actually understand history class, and can laugh when no one else can. It's history class is written in some secret code only I can read. Also, hetalia made me better at history, and more interested in it too.

Knowing personified Countries makes it easier to remember which Country allied with which when you study History events.
I don't exactly think Hetalia teaches history, but it does help you getting interested in it.
Liking Hetalia, I think you tend to pay more attention to History and try to find out more about this and that event by your own.
Before Hetalia, I would have never guessed I'd spend my time reading about the relations between Lithuania and Italy before the Russification, or about what the Teutonic Knights are/used to be.
I used to like history even before Hetalia, but it definitely made me like it more.
It also helped me in Geography, as I didn't know anything about Eastern Europe geography before (and I DO live in Europe ...).

It may not teach you much, but it does help you learning things, yeah.

I also think it promotes peace, in an indirect way.
It helps you appreciate those who have a different culture and come from a different Country.
It can't stop wars and hatred, but it can help you see different cultures as equally important and make you appreciate them, still being fond of your own.

Finally, I don't know if Hetalia has something to do with this, but since when I became a fan of this series, I also got more interested in Politics and I'm more fond of my Country's traditions.

I'm a huge history nerd, and while I might not be into it myself,   I appreciate that it gets people talking about history and other culture.

I agree.I mean, sure Hetalia isn't a history book that teaches everything 100%,but there are some elements I leant from it.

Like Micronations.

Prussia and it's empire.

That Hungry and Austria used to form Austria-Hungary.

And so on and so forth.

And when I was taking history just last year,I had a better time remembering certain things because of Hetalia.I guess you can say,Hetalia sort of inspired me to like history more~And I'm sure people are going to read this and think I'm an idiot for it,but people get inspired by the weirdest things. You wouldn't believe how any people tell me how MLPFiM helped with their depression or inspired them to be musicians. And if a little girl's cartoon can inspire people, than so can an anime about country personifications!

Couldn't agree more. ^w^ Oh yeah, Hetalia really did teach me about Micronations. I didn't even know about Sealand and I live less than 100 miles away from it!

Plus, as an MLP fan, I can say that you are right. c:

Did you know abut Molossia before Hetalia? (I think it's a little funny they don't let anything in that's from texas!)

Actually no.In America, depending on what state you're in depends on what history you learn.I lived in California and Texas,so I was only taught about the Gold Rush,The Alamo,Civil Wars, the South, and they refrain from talking about any other state then their own.Same for the news channel. So learning that there was an actual Micronation somewhere in America baffled me.

I guess Molossia just can't handle this Texas swag~:icondivaplz:
